Membership Application Processes

We are pleased that you are interested in applying for membership with the premier society for nutrition research and practice. We look forward to welcoming you as a member of the American Society for Nutrition.  Please see the information below and contact the ASN membership department if you have any further questions.

Application Fees

All member applicants will be assessed a $25 non-refundable application fee; this fee is collected at the time your application is submitted.

DISCOUNT for all Young Professional / Postdoctoral applicants! The non-refundable application fee is only $10; this fee is collected at the time your application is submitted.

WAIVER for all Student applicants! The non-refundable application fee is waived for students.

Dues and Qualifications

We encourage you to view our membership dues and qualifications page prior to submitting your membership application.

Processing

Your application must be completed within eight weeks from initial submission. The list of required elements is variable depending on membership category but may include valid contact information, short CV (approx. 3-4 pages), sponsor name and valid contact information, valid credit card information, and any other requested information. If your application is not completed within eight weeks, your application will be terminated. If you are still interested in joining ASN after this point, you will need to re-apply.

Your credit card will be processed at point of submission. If you are not accepted as a member with the American Society for Nutrition, your credit card will be refunded the membership dues amount. The application fee ($25 or $10, depending on membership category) is non-refundable.

Your completed membership application will be reviewed within 3-4 weeks and you will receive a new member welcome packet if your application has been approved for membership.

Updating Your Membership Category

If you are a current member of ASN and would like to be considered for a different membership category (student member to young professional/postdoc member, young professional/postdoc member to associate/regular member, associate member to regular member), please e-mail an updated CV/resume to ASN's membership department with your request.

Lapsed Member
If you are a previous member of ASN, you do not need to resubmit a membership application.  You can simply renew your membership online here.
