EB 2011 Pre-Conference: "Heart Healthy Omega-3s for Food: Stearidonic Acid (SDA) as a Sustainable Choice."
Friday, April 8, 2011
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Congressional Ballroom A/B
Renaissance Downtown D.C. Hotel
Washington, D.C.
This day-long forum will present the latest scientific research on the health and food application benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, with an emphasis on stearidonic acid.
Objectives:
-Increase understanding of the current and emerging knowledge
regarding the health benefits of omega-3 fatty acids, with a
focus on stearidonic acid (SDA) and eicosapenaeonic acid (EPA)
-Underscore the importance of increasing omega-3 consumption in the U.S. and the current challenges of doing so via mainstream foods.
-Build awareness of the health and food application benefits of stearidonic acid as (1) a pro-EPA and (2) a plant-based, sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids for mainstream foods.
