Tier II Canada Research Chair in Human Nutrition, Food, Nutrition & Health, Assistant or Associate Professor, the University of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia is seeking applications or nominations for a Canada Research Chair, established by the Government of Canada to enable Canadian universities to foster world-class research excellence.  The University's Strategic Research Plan includes a Tier II Chair in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems in the area of Human Nutrition.

Candidates must be established scholars with demonstrated potential of becoming world leaders in their research area.  They should have a strong commitment toward interdisciplinary research, the ability to attract excellent graduate students, and have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at both the graduate and the undergraduate level.  A PhD obtained within the last 10 years, postdoctoral or equivalent experience, and a strong background in human nutritional sciences are essential.  The appointment will be tenure-track at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with reduced teaching responsibilities.

The successful candidate will develop a research program that focuses on characterizing physiological, biochemical or genomic mechanisms for the effects of nutrition on human health.  The candidate's research program will be original, innovative, and of high quality.

The incumbent will be appointed with tenure, depending on academic record, at the rank of Associate or Full Professor, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Position Number: BW250- FA802.

The Department of Human Nutritional Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate programs in foods, nutrition and dietetics. The Head holds an administrative position, supervising 12 FTE academic staff, 2 support staff, as well as participating in the teaching, research and service activities of the Department and the Faculty. The Department has an active research program (last fiscal year = $1.1M in funding) and offers courses of study leading to baccalaureate (current enrolment = ~250), M.Sc. (current enrolment = 20) and interdepartmental Ph.D. degrees (current enrolment = 9).

Candidates must hold a PhD in nutritional sciences or a related field. Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, with demonstrated management and administrative abilities. Vision and leadership skills are also required to lead the department into a number of exciting new ventures with health and human services, faculties and organizations. This includes fostering collegiality within the Department; acting as a facilitator in addressing concerns of faculty, staff and students; and encouraging interdisciplinary activity. Preference will be given to candidates with qualifications and a background in nutritional or food sciences.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks applications and nominations to occupy a new endowed Webb Chair in the Department of Nutrition Sciences. The successful candidate should be internationally recognized as a leader with demonstrated success in research in an aspect of nutrition relevant to cancer. The content of research could encompass a broad range, e.g., obesity, body composition, metabolism, micronutrients, or other relevant areas, and its nature could range from basic to clinical, translational, behavioral, or population-based observational or intervention studies. The candidate will be expected to provide inspired leadership to develop and implement a growing research program and to contribute to programmatic excellence in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center. Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Nutritional Epidemiology and Behavioral Cancer Prevention, The Cancer Research Center of Hawaii, University of Hawaii

The Cancer Research Center of Hawaii (CRCH) at the University of Hawaii invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Nutritional Epidemiology and Behavioral Cancer Prevention in a Multiethnic Population. Trainees will experience the interdisciplinary nature of cancer prevention as they progress through individually tailored educational and research experiences. Fields of research include genetic epidemiology, diet, physical activity, and hormones and cancer. Trainees are awarded a yearly stipend, medical insurance, and a research/educational allowance. MRC Human Nutrition Research (HNR) is dedicated to advancing knowledge of the links between human nutrition and health by conducting laboratory and community-based research.  We currently have the following opportunity available to work with Dr. Alison Stephen, Head of Population Nutrition Research.

We wish to appoint a Nutrition Scientist with expertise in nutritional epidemiology and/ or dietary assessment and analysis. You will co-ordinate and manage a number of internal projects and external collaborations in the Population Nutrition Section, and will contribute to the development of new collaborative population based nutrition projects involving dietary assessment and/or dietary data analysis, in line with the strategic priorities of the section. 

The appointment is offered on an open-ended contract basis, with salary dependant on qualifications and experience.  This is supported by a flexible pay and reward policy and competitive terms of employment (30 days annual leave, optional membership of MRC's final salary pension scheme, free on site car parking.)

MRC Human Nutrition Research (HNR) is dedicated to advancing knowledge of the links between human nutrition and health by conducting laboratory and community-based research.

We wish to appoint an experienced nutritionist or nutritional epidemiologist within the Population Nutrition Research section. The post holder will coordinate some existing collaborations and initiate new research projects and collaborations with internal and external research teams in line with the strategic priorities of the section, and will have a major input into the section's future strategic and scientific direction. You will contribute scientifically to the work of other staff in HNR, will manage more junior staff and will have opportunities in the training of students involved in a wide range of projects.  Reporting to the Head of Population Nutrition Research, Dr Alison Stephen.

You should be educated to degree level and have research experience including direct involvement in nutritional epidemiology, with some experience in dietary assessment and nutrient databases.  The salary is supported by a flexible pay and reward policy, competitive terms of employment including 30 days annual leave, optional membership of MRC's pension scheme, excellent working conditions and free on site car parking.
