PROPOSALS FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO OCCUR DURING 2009 (OUTSIDE OF THE ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS HELD AT EXPERIMENTAL BIOLOGY)
ASN members are encouraged to submit proposals for professional development programs. ASN is issuing a call for professional development conference proposals to be held as independent conference meetings during 2009 outside of the annual scientific session's timeframe (April 18-22, 2009) or as satellite meetings prior to or after EB or other meetings. These professional development programs are designed for scientific communication and exchange on cutting edge nutrition research and practice that can be in a format entirely different from the annual ASN meeting. For example, the duration of the conference may range from several hours to several days.
ASN Professional Development Conferences: Call for Proposals
Guidelines & Submission FormASN's Graduate and Professional Education Committee (GPEC) will review the submitted proposals. Conferences will be stand alone independent meetings on topics of interest to ASN members and to the nutrition community and may be delivered in person or through web casting. ASN conferences can be offered as CME and CPE activities. An appropriate registration fee will be charged to attendees.
Your proposal should include:
1. Tentative session title, a descriptive list of speakers (e.g. expertise in topic area) including and indication of which speakers have agreed to participate and tentative presentation titles.
2. Projected timeliness and breadth of interest to membership in ASN and potential interest to members of other societies.
3. The uniqueness and need to cover the topic. (Has topic been covered recently at a national meeting?)
4. Your preferred dates, duration and location for the conference. (Please provide several alternatives if possible.)
5. Identify your expected audience and the projected number of attendees.
6. Name, address, society affiliation, telephone, FAX and E-MAIL of both organizer and co-organizer
7. Budgetary outline including information about potential co-sponsoring societies or groups and underwriting by foundations and industry.
ASN may provide "seed" money and staff time for each conference to help defray a portion of travel and registration costs for speakers. ASN staff will be available to partner with the conference organizers to secure additional funding. Conferences may be webcasted or videotaped for future viewing.
PROPOSED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE PROPOSALS SHOULD BE E-MAILED TO THE ASN SECRETARIAT AT:
ameyers@nutrition.org
DEADLINE: June 30, 2008
