About the Webinar:
This American Society for Nutrition (ASN)/USDA Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP) webinar will describe and illustrate the evidence analysis process behind the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee's (DGAC) Scientific Report, as well as how this translates into the recommendations to be made. The speakers will explain the purpose of the Dietary Guidelines, timeline for the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, how topic areas were selected to update, the systematic review methodology used to evaluate the relevant science, and how the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee's report is used to support development of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. There will also be a question and answer session, where you will have an opportunity to ask the presenters questions about the process for developing the Committee's advisory report.
At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will be able
- Explain the purpose of the Dietary Guidelines and why they are important for the public.
- Describe the systematic review methodology employed by the Committee in its work to select and evaluate the relevant evidence, develop and grade conclusion statements and implications for the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Report.
