It's been called “deadly,” “toxic,” and “poison.” Today there's no shortage of books, news articles, and journal articles singling out the sweet substance sugar as the scapegoat for all of society's ills. These include obesity, metabolic syndrome factors such as high blood pressure, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), type-2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. But what does the evidence say?
